Hello and welcome to the Spot On Sweater Crochet Along! #spotonsweaterCAL
Here you will find all the details for the yarn you'll need, the pattern, and how to take part.
What is it?
A CAL, or Crochet A-Long, is where everyone makes the same pattern at the same time. As if we were attending a virtual workshop, or all part of the same crochet group! I've hosted one Crochet Along before and loved the way in which people came together to share tips, look at each other's colour ways and share their makes. It's a really fun way to connect and I can't wait to host this one and to meet you all online!
How do I take part?
To take part, you will need to purchase the pattern, which you purchase by clicking here. And buy/raid your stash for yarn. That's it! Then when you share progress pictures online, use the hashtag #spotonsweaterCAL, so that we can all easily find your pictures, share progress updates and tips with each other.
Be sure to keep an eye out on the @lottieandalbert Instagram page too, where I will be sharing 5 help videos in the first week, and also sharing your sweaters on my stories and on my grid.
The help videos are designed to help you take part if you are a beginner, or haven't tried these techniques before, and they will cover the following topics:
- How to work the front and back post stitches for the cuff
- How to work tapestry crochet (including changing colour, carrying the yarn, preventing tangled yarn, and turning neatly)
- How to read the chart for the tapestry crochet
- How to join the garment
- How to work the neck
When is it happening?
The CAL will be running From Friday 26th February, until the end of March. I'll also be sharing the help video on my IGTV from 26th February. However the pattern is available now, and the yarn requirements are below, to give you time to get your yarn ordered.
What will I need?
Below is a list of the sizing and the materials you will need for the CAL. You can also find a copy of this in your pattern.
The Yarn I used was Knitcraft Leader of the Pac. If you'd like to use another yarn other than this, I've also listed below the yarns that my testers successfully used when test making the sweater for me.
Alternative Yarns
The following are yarns that my testers and I successfully used when test making the sweater. But bear in mind that the yarn quantities may vary for these yarns, especially if the yardage is different or you need to use a different hook size to get gauge, so if in doubt order an extra ball or two!
