The Beginner Box - Granny Glow Up Bag

Welcome to your new hobby... the world of crochet awaits!

Perhaps you have always wanted to learn to crochet, but not been sure where to start. Or you learned when you were younger, and have been wanting to give it another go? Well welcome, because I’ve designed this box just for you!

I’m a firm believer that learning is much more fun when you have a project that you really want to make. Practising crochet stitches might be useful, but making rows of stitches back and forth for hours can also be a little, well, boring…

Instead, this box is designed around making a fun and practical item that you will cherish forever, and get to use...

The Granny Glow Up Bag

How it works

Designed for complete beginners! In your box you will receive everything you need to make the kit, from the yarn and hook to the yarn needles! You'll receive:

  • A 16-page booklet and pattern with step-by-step pictures, where I will explain how to create the Granny Glow up bag stage by stage
  • A 60+ minute tutorial video walking you through the pattern stitch by stitch
  • A signature black and gold crochet hook
  • 5 x balls of cotton aran yarn
  • Easy to thread yarn needles
  • The Learn to Crochet booklet
  • Plus any other accessories you'll need to make the project...!

Everyone learns differently, so I always include a video as well as a pattern in my boxes. If you aren’t as familiar with patterns, it’s really useful to have both side by side as you work through the box.

Plus I’ve also designed a special extra booklet for you, the Learn to Crochet booklet, which is a cheat sheet of common crochet terms and techniques which you will encounter alongside video tutorials and step by step diagrams.

Some of the stitches are used in our Granny Glow up Bag, but there are also other stitches and techniques that I’ve included to help you progress through more patterns and kits as you grow in confidence.

The videos that accompany the Learn to Crochet booklet also live on my website, so you can use the QR codes in that booklet to access them anytime!

Designed for beginners

As well as having a gorgeous project to work towards, I've made this box super beginner friendly and accessible:

  • We're using Aran weight yarn and a chunkier hook, which is easier for beginners to get to grips with
  • The video takes you through each part of the project really slowly and clearly, from how to hold your hook and yarn, to making your first chain
  • The Learn to Crochet booklet expands on your skills and serves as a reminder of each stitch with videos and diagrams
  • You'll get access to a Beginner video tutorial section of my website - Access all Stitches - for you to refer back to the video tutorials as many times as you need to
  • Everything you need is in the box, so you can pick it up and get started straight away!

What skills you'll learn

In the Beginner Box we'll be learning a whole host of skills, beginning with:

  • How to hold your hook and yarn
  • How to make a chain
  • How to create a granny square
  • How to join them together
  • How to slip stitch and weave in your ends
  • How to read a pattern

Through the course of the project we'll learn the three key crochet stitches together: the double crochet, half treble crochet, and the treble crochet, which form the foundation of almost every crochet project.

Once you've made this project and have these stitches and skills in your toolkit, you'll be ready to tackle a whole world of crochet projects!

I've never made anything like this before, is this project for me?

Absolutely! Every one of our boxes comes with a printed pattern booklet, step-by-step photos and an exclusive video tutorial, typically 45-60 minutes long. So no matter where you are on your crochet journey, you'll find everything you need to help you make up this box.  I'll walk you through each skill and technique in turn in the video, so that we make along together.

And this box has been specifically designed for beginners to cover all bases!
