There’s something rather lovely about old-fashioned Christmas gift shops.
The little paper bags, ribbons and tags. The shelves filled with things chosen carefully. Presents wrapped up beautifully, ready to be taken home and given to someone you love.
November is our main Christmas box this year, so we wanted to capture some of that nostalgic Christmas gift-shop feeling in crochet...

The Gift Shop box
That’s how The Gift Shop came about... a set of three crochet drawstring gift bags, each with its own festive personality, to make the wrapping itself part of the present!
There’s a larger striped bag, perfect for bigger presents, a middle-sized bag finished with a lovely crochet bow, and a smaller bag featuring the sweetest little goose created using tapestry crochet – complete with a tiny bow of its own.
They’re designed to be filled with presents, tied up with their drawstrings and finished with one of the gift tags included in your box.
But unlike wrapping paper, these are made to be kept. Once Christmas is over, the bags can be folded away and brought out again next year – ready for another present, another Christmas and, hopefully, a few more memories attached to them.
There’s something rather special about giving someone a handmade gift bag and knowing that it might become part of their Christmas traditions. The wrapping becomes part of the present!

What you'll learn
The Gift Shop is a lovely opportunity to explore a few different crochet techniques within one project.
You’ll work with colour changes and stripes, create the crochet-as-you-go bow detail, and try your hand at Intarsia crochet to create the little goose.
And because each bag uses a simple drawstring construction, you’ll end up with three practical projects that can be used well beyond the Christmas season.
