Introducing... The Day Tripper box!
Your crochet deserves a change of scenery…
Whether it’s a sunny afternoon in the garden, a weekend trip away, or simply your favourite spot on the sofa, there’s nothing better than having a project ready to pick up whenever inspiration strikes.

The Day Tripper is designed for exactly that: a beautiful raffia bucket bag to make, with a clever twist. While you crochet your bag, the bright pink yarn pouch keeps your project organised and portable. Then, once your bag is complete, it transforms into a colourful liner, meaning your crochet project bag becomes your everyday bag!
A bag within a bag? We think that’s a pretty clever little stitchuation.

What’s included in the box?
The Day Tripper includes everything you need to create your own raffia bucket bag:
- Raffia paper ribbon in Natural
- Cotton yarn in Dark Brown for the adjustable strap
- A bright pink yarn bag with a handy yarn-feed hole for crocheting on the go
- 2 x D-rings to create your adjustable strap
- Two crochet hooks
- Yarn needle
- Tape Measure
- Seasonal stitch marker
The finished bag is lightweight, practical and designed to be used long after you've completed the final stitch. Wear it cross-body for everyday adventures, or shorten the strap for a classic shoulder bag style.

Skills Focus: What will you learn?
Working with raffia
Raffia is a wonderfully unique material to crochet with. Unlike traditional yarns, it has very little stretch, which creates a beautifully structured finished fabric.
In this project, you’ll learn how to adjust your technique when working with raffia, including using a slightly more exaggerated movement when yarning over and pulling through your stitches.
The bonus? Raffia works up quickly and creates a fabric with plenty of structure, so even a few rows at a time will see your project grow beautifully.

Creating texture with the triangle stitch pattern
The Day Tripper features a simple but striking triangle stitch pattern, adding interest and texture to the raffia fabric without making the project feel complicated.
You’ll learn how to build this repeating pattern, creating a finished bag that feels super contemporary.

Making an adjustable crochet strap
The finishing touch is the adjustable cotton strap, created using D-rings to give you flexibility in how you wear your bag.
You’ll learn how to crochet a sturdy strap and attach the hardware securely, giving your finished piece a polished, shop-bought feel.
Is this project for me?
Absolutely! Every one of our boxes comes with a 16-page printed pattern booklet, step-by-step photos and an exclusive video tutorial, typically 60 minutes long.
So no matter where you are on your crochet journey, you'll find everything you need to help you make up this month's box.
I'll walk you through each skill and technique in turn in the video, so that we make along together.
Am I tied into a subscription?
Nope! Curate Crochet Box is designed to be super flexible. All our projects are revealed each month before your renewal date, so you can skip a box if it's not your cup of tea, or if you are busy that month. Or you can cancel anytime if you need to - all from your own account.
How to join Curate Crochet Box
